My Approach

I take a client-centred approach to practice where client preferences and needs are centred and therapeutic techniques are incorporated accordingly. My focus is always on creating a relationship of collaboration and mutual respect with clients where they feel safe to explore the issues facing them.

I understand that no single approach is the right one for every person, so a variety of evidence-based approaches are used including

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Schema Therapy

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

  • Ego-State Therapies (i.e. Internal Family Systems IFS / working with ‘parts’ of the personality)

About EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an extensively researched, effective therapeutic method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. It is endorsed by the World Health Organisation as a gold standard evidence-based treatment for trauma.

EMDR does not require talking in detail about distressing issues or completing homework between sessions. Rather than focusing on changing the thoughts, emotions or behaviours resulting from the distressing issue, EMDR allows the brain to resume its natural healing process.

Inclusive Practice

I aim to provide an affirming experience for all people. I embrace the diversity of my clients and work to provide a supportive space for LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, disabled and neurodiverse clients.

I am also passionate about achieving cultural change so that all people; regardless of sex, gender identity, age, race, ability, sexuality, and body size and shape; are valued and respected.

Health At Every Size

Health At Every Size (HAES) is a weight-inclusive approach to health. HAES practitioners advocate that a focus on health enhancing behaviours, rather than a focus on reducing body size, is the most useful way to support people of all sizes to take care of their health.
